PreK Art: Thursdays 1/21-2/18, 10:30-11:30am, 5 weeks
This is an art class designed for 2-5 year old toddlers. Each 5-week session is based around a theme and includes 1-3 projects per class. We will explore different art mediums and concepts, while building your toddlers fine motor skills, & love for art! Working with their grownup & peers will also help develop our toddlers language, problem solving and critical thinking skills. All ages will get to enjoy making a mess while working towards a vision guided by that day’s class materials, in a safe, creative environment. And you’ll get to leave the cleaning to us! There will also be a dance break, a short lesson, and bubbles to break up the art projects and keep everyone engaged.
Meet the Teacher: Jaguar Smith
Hey y’all!
I am the owner of Abstract Adventures LLC, a children’s art studio in the Lowcountry. I teach art classes and host craft pop ups all around town and I am so excited to now be teaching littles at Public Works Art Center. I started teaching Parent & Me art classes so my son and his friends could experience art class at a young age. I teach with a process based approach, as at every age it is important to enjoy the process of making art before worrying about the final results.
My path to Art Teacher has not been a straight line. I have a degree in Accounting, and have gone back to school for Early Education to better serve my students. I spent ten years as a veterinary technician before having my son. I have had a love for art since I was little, drawing and reading art books, taking 2D media classes in high school, and continuing with art classes into college. I have continued my passion for art by picking up new skills such as knitting and sewing, as well as mural painting.
So excited to meet y’all, Jaguar
