Artist Statement:
As a resident of Summerville’s historic district, I observe and record the changes I see daily. OUR TOWN is experiencing rapid growth, and I’d like to create a visual inventory of Summerville while documenting how our community is grappling with the challenges that are not unique to Summerville. Across the country, what were once “small towns” weigh the pros and cons of progress. I admire the structures, both large and architecturally detailed, and the humble cottages that were carefully built long ago in Summerville. Andrea Davis
Location: Studio 1, Upstairs
Andrea Davis is the founder of Motherland Essentials, a plant based bath and body company creating products that spark joy for all skin types. Her passion for soapmaking and holistic healing began when she experienced the loss of her son, Elijah, 20 weeks in utero. After being given 3 days of bereavement from her former employer, she returned to work and realized she was suffering from depression. She decided to quit her job and focus on her mental health.
