Artist Statement:
As a resident of Summerville’s historic district, I observe and record the changes I see daily. OUR TOWN is experiencing rapid growth, and I’d like to create a visual inventory of Summerville while documenting how our community is grappling with the challenges that are not unique to Summerville. Across the country, what were once “small towns” weigh the pros and cons of progress. I admire the structures, both large and architecturally detailed, and the humble cottages that were carefully built long ago in Summerville. Miguel Oldenburg
Location: Studio 9, Downstairs
Miguel is a passionate artist and seasoned creative professional, with a lifelong dedication to self-expression across various artistic mediums, particularly oil painting. Miguel is a four-time Emmy Award winner Creative Director, shaping relevant campaigns in media arts, motion design, and visual effects, collaborating with top entertainment brands and production agencies. His accolades also include two Grand Awards and nine medals from the New York Festivals, numerous Promax/BDA Awards, six Telly Awards, and more. Miguel’s work extends beyond the creative studio, as he has shared his expertise in lectures at renowned institutions such as the Bauhaus School of Design in Germany and Mount Saint Mary College in New York. A graduate of UCAB in Communications, his thought-provoking art has been exhibited in both New York City and Madrid.
