Student Exhibition
Public Works Art Center, Downtown Summerville’s FREE Community art space, is thrilled to announce our 2023 Student Exhibition! Pieces will be on display in our South Gallery from November 16-January 13, and the reception for this exhibition will be November 16 from 5:30pm-8:30pm.
Elementary, middle, high school, and college age students are invited to submit their best work of 2023; select your favorite! Homeschoolers are encouraged to submit, and teachers are welcome to submit work on behalf of their students. One piece per student will be accepted provided all rules are followed, and pieces must be dropped off by November 11, 2023. Late submissions will NOT be accepted this year.
Rules:
-Piece must be ready to hang with black or steel binder clips or frame (with hanger or wire on the back). -You are welcome to mount pieces on black mat board without framing, but if you do, please supply black binder clips along with them so they can hang on our hanging system/nails. This is what we mean by black binder clips . All pieces must be ready to hang with either frame and wire, hanger, or clips.
-All pieces must have a white label to hang next to it on the wall including title, artist name, school (or Homeschooled) and medium submitted typed in 12 point font. Labels are best printed on cardstock and cut into a rectangle. If you are unable to make a label, please email this information to jana@publicworksartcenter.org by November 9 and we will make a label for you. Late submissions will unfortunately not have a label.
-All pieces must have artist name and phone number on the back.
-Pieces can be picked up between January 16-January 20. After February 16, pieces not picked up will be donated or sold to benefit Public Works Art Center (but we really want you to have your pieces back, so please come get them!)
-For teachers submitting on behalf of students, there is a limit of 5 pieces per teacher. We know this is a challenge, but unfortunately, space is limited. Thank you for understanding.
-This exhibition is free to enter and every piece submitted is accepted (one per student). Thank you!
