Needle Felting: Penguin Keychains, Wednesday 4/9, 6-8pm

Join us for a hands-on needle felting workshop where we will learn how to make cute, colorful, needle felted penguin keychains! In this class you will learn how needle felting works, as well as the best materials to use. This engaging session includes all the supplies needed to create your unique creation, including high quality felting needles with a wooden handle, soft wool in an array of colors, and other needle felting supplies. At the end of the class you will be able to take these tools home with you to continue creating. For adults and teens 13+.

Whether you are a beginner or have some felting experience, this class is geared to help you create a beautiful penguin. Anyone can learn how to needle felt! At the end of the class, you will have a beautiful penguin to display and the skills and tools to take home with you to continue creating!

Meet the teacher:

My name is Sarah, and I am a mother of two, an avid runner, and a self confessed serial crafter. For years I worked as an archaeologist, but due to an autoimmune disease I could no longer successfully make that my career. One day on a whim I decided to try a needle felting kit, and I instantly fell in love with this art form. When I finished my first kit I started designing my own little wildlife friends and just found myself getting more and more addicted to making them.

I feel like every day I learn something new about the needle felting process, and that feeling never ends! I am excited to share my love of felting and teach others how to make their own creations. I have started a line of DIY kits with video tutorials, and I am looking forward to teaching more in person classes! Lately I have been making a lot of birds, but I love creating all animals from the whimsical to realistic. You can see some of my creations at woolywildlife.com and awoolywildlife.etsy.com, and you can usually find me at Third Thursday and other sales around town.

Bookings for classes at Public Works Art Center are subject to the following terms:

  • Your booking is not confirmed until full payment has been made.
  • All payments are made online through Square. If you are unable to pay via Square, you can pay via check (please stop by the art center during business hours or call us at (843) 900 – 3225 to notify intent to mail a check). Confirmation of the class will only occur once the check clears.
  • Painting workshops can result in paint getting on clothing and personal items. We advise you to wear old clothes to all workshops. We take no responsibility for damages due incurred at classes. Your personal items are your responsibility. You may be coming home from the workshop with a wet painting. Please ensure you have planned for how you will transport your painting home.
  • Photos – You are welcome to take photos of your progress throughout the day. You will need to get the permission of other students and your teacher to take photos of other’s work. Note – Your instructor may take photos of the class throughout the day. These photos may or may not be used for marketing purposes including (but not limited to) use in websites, social media, blogs, advertising, print media and more. If you do not wish to be in photos from the class or give your consent for your images to be used for marketing purposes, then it is your responsibility to inform your instructor at the start of the class. Failure to notify your instructor will mean your acceptance of these terms.
  • We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes where required. In the event of a cancellation by us, you will receive a full refund.
  • Cancellation Policy – If you wish to cancel your booking, a minimum of one week’s notice is required. You will receive a full refund for cancellations where at least one week notice is given. No refunds will be given for cancellations with less than one week notice.

By booking an art class, you are accepting these terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them.

Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to the start of your class, and plan to stay the entire time.
