Drawing the Figure On Both Sides of the Brain: 6 Weeks on Wednesdays May 8 – June 12, 3-5pm, ages 18+

Understanding the figure in terms of its 3-dimensional construction is the most fundamental key to drawing, painting, and sculpting the human form. Rhythm and intuitive mark-making can breathe life into those structures to bring both a sense of realism and expression.

Directly observing a variety of live models, this fun and dynamic class will focus on using both mind and intuition to start thinking more sculpturally and dynamically.

With some proficiency in these concepts, you will be able to approach any subject with a new confidence!

Meet the Teacher:

Steve Cefalo is a Charleston-based painter, specializing in the portrait in figure. Although his first love is painting, he has worked in various media and genres. Formerly a comic book illustrator and an artist for Nickelodeon’s “Rugrats”, Cefalo has been teaching traditional drawing and painting for over 20 years in art schools, universities, and art centers. Steve’s teaching style is calm, positive, and informationally dense. He believes that each student should be met exactly at their own level of advancement and experience.
