Fridays March 6, 13, 20, & 27, 10-11am: Fairy Shelf Workshop for Homeschoolers

Over the course of four classes, we will assemble a mini wooden bookcase and transform it into a magical fairy shelf! Melissa will guide students through each enchanting step of assembly, painting, and decorating. We will use hot glue, acrylic paint, and miniature accessories to create a beautiful display. All supplies are provided, including bookcase, moss, tiny bottles, faux books, etc. but students may bring in their own mini accessories if they wish. We will finish the class by creating a magical backstory that tells the story of our creations.

Meet the Teacher: Melissa Meverden

Melissa Meverden is an educator and artist who is passionate about nurturing creativity and self-expression. Melissa taught middle and high school English, worked as an instructional coach for teachers, and now teaches art around town to adults and kids.

In her own art practice, Melissa draws inspiration from nature and uses lots of found and recycled items in her work. She loves to collect new treasures and create alongside her children (7 and 9) and feline studio assistant, Mister Kitty. One of her dreams is to open a Creative Reuse store, an arts and crafts-themed thrift store for makers and teachers. Melissa is also passionate about building creative community. She serves as the current president of the North Charleston Artist Guild, and exhibits art in local galleries & shows. You can shop her art in person at The Station Park Circle in North Charleston.
