Painting Novelties: Cheez-Its! Saturday 9/14, 2-4pm
Come join us and paint one of our favorite snacks – Cheez-Its! In this two hour class, we will learn the basics of painting novelty items by experimenting with bright colors, composition, and creating a fun work of art.
Adults and Teens 13+
In this class, you will learn:
- Blending and mixing of colors
- Geometry! (Just kidding, but there is lots of measuring and shapes involved)
- A smidge of calligraphy
- Various ways to turn your piece abstract
- Proper brushes used throughout the class
What’s provided:
- 11 x 14 canvas
- Acrylic paint
- Brushes
- Cheez-Its!
All skill levels are welcome. Only 10 spots available.
Jessie graduated with a BA in Art History from the University of New Hampshire and an MFA in Creative Writing from Fairfield University. She is a New Hampshire native and has been living in the Charleston area on and off since 2017. She currently lives in Ladson with her husband and her son.
A studio artist at Public Works Art Center, she is also a curriculum coordinator for a private preschool in Mount Pleasant, and works closely with children ages 3-11. You can find her work at The Station Park Circle, Southern Ruetz, The Paper Canopy, Brew Hanahan, Two Cumberland, and Presson Gallery in Monroe, NC. Her most recent solo exhibition “Dreamhouse” is a Barbie inspired art show hosted at Saul Alexander Gallery in August 2024. She has been featured in Bold Journal Magazine, Shout Out South Carolina, Canvas Rebel, South Carolina Voyager Magazine, and House & Garden UK.
Bookings for classes at Public Works Art Center are subject to the following terms:
- Your booking is not confirmed until full payment has been made.
- All payments are made online through Square. If you are unable to pay via Square, you can pay via check (please stop by the art center during business hours or call us at (843) 900 – 3225 to notify intent to mail a check). Confirmation of the class will only occur once the check clears.
- Painting workshops can result in paint getting on clothing and personal items. We advise you to wear old clothes to all workshops. We take no responsibility for damages due incurred at classes. Your personal items are your responsibility. You may be coming home from the workshop with a wet painting. Please ensure you have planned for how you will transport your painting home.
- Photos – You are welcome to take photos of your progress throughout the day. You will need to get the permission of other students and your teacher to take photos of other’s work. Note – Your instructor may take photos of the class throughout the day. These photos may or may not be used for marketing purposes including (but not limited to) use in websites, social media, blogs, advertising, print media and more. If you do not wish to be in photos from the class or give your consent for your images to be used for marketing purposes, then it is your responsibility to inform your instructor at the start of the class. Failure to notify your instructor will mean your acceptance of these terms.
- We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule classes where required. In the event of a cancellation by us, you will receive a full refund.
- Cancellation Policy – If you wish to cancel your booking, a minimum of one week’s notice is required. You will receive a full refund for cancellations where at least one week notice is given. No refunds will be given for cancellations with less than one week notice.
By booking an art class, you are accepting these terms and conditions and agree to be bound by them.
Please arrive at least ten minutes prior to the start of your class, and plan to stay the entire time.
