Printmaking Camp! for Teens: 6/25 & 26, 1-4:30pm

Printmaking Camp! for Teens: 6/25 & 26, 1-4:30pm

In this printmaking camp, students will learn the traditional art of linocut printmaking, a relief printing technique used by artists to create bold, graphic images.

Campers will begin by developing a simple design and transferring it onto a linoleum block. They will then learn how to safely use carving tools to cut away areas of the block, creating a raised surface that will hold ink.

Once their blocks are carved, students will explore the process of inking and hand-printing their designs onto paper. Campers will experiment with color and composition while learning how artists produce an edition of prints, meaning multiple copies of the same image.

By the end of camp, each student will leave with their carved block and a small edition of their own prints, gaining experience in drawing, carving, and the exciting process of creating artwork through printmaking.

Meet the Teacher: Mary Charlotte Kiser

Hi! My name is Mary Charlotte Kiser, and I am currently an Elementary Art Teacher at Boulder Bluff Elementary in Goose Creek.
When I’m not in the art room, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and our three cats, and of course creating art of my own. Art has always been a huge part of my life, and I feel so lucky to share that passion with my students each day.
I truly believe art is a powerful way to express thoughts, feelings, and creativity, and I love helping students discover new ways to share their unique voices. Teaching and creating are both very close to my heart, and I can’t wait to welcome you into my classroom soon!
