In this fun and focused 2 hour crash course, students in grades 5–7 will develop the foundational skills and techniques needed to succeed in the Rollings Middle School visual arts audition. Through hands-on projects and guided practice, students will strengthen their drawing, shading, observational, and design skills while learning how to become a confident artist. They’ll explore composition, perspective, and creative problem-solving as they work in both black-and-white and color media.

Students will also receive personalized feedback and tips on creating artwork confidently in a timed setting. By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared to showcase their unique artistic voice and meet the challenges of the visual arts audition with skill and self-assurance.

Meet the Teacher: Hello! I am Adrienne Johnson. I graduated from College of Charleston with a Bachelor’s of Art in Arts Management. I have been teaching Elementary Art for 8 years. I have also worked under Larry Barnfield with Rollings Auditions for 15 years. My art expertise is charcoal and drawing. I am a Summerville native and went to Rollings for Visual Arts from 4th to 8th grade. My personal goal as an art teacher is to give students the tools and knowledge to have pride in their art and appreciate themselves as artists.
