SUMMARY:Whimsical Doll Making Camp! For Teens: 7/9 & 10\, 1-4:30pm
DESCRIPTION:In this sculpture camp\, students will design and build their own Coraline-inspired character dolls from start to finish. Campers will begin by sketching a character that represents themselves or a unique alter-ego. They will then learn how to construct a wire armature to create the doll’s internal structure and pose. \nOnce the armature is complete\, students will build up the form using paper mache and air-dry clay to sculpt the head\, hands\, and body details. Campers will explore basic sculpting techniques such as shaping facial features\, smoothing surfaces\, and adding personality to their figures. \nAfter the sculpture phase\, students will bring their dolls to life by designing simple handmade clothing that reflects their own style or character design. They will learn beginner techniques for cutting\, assembling\, and layering fabric to create miniature outfits. Yarn will be used to create hairstyles\, allowing students to experiment with texture\, color\, and personality. \nBy the end of camp\, each student will leave with a fully finished poseable character doll that is unique and handmade! \nMeet the Teacher: Mary Charlotte Kiser \nHi! My name is Mary Charlotte Kiser\, and I am currently an Elementary Art Teacher at Boulder Bluff Elementary in Goose Creek.\nWhen I’m not in the art room\, I enjoy spending time with my boyfriend and our three cats\, and of course creating art of my own. Art has always been a huge part of my life\, and I feel so lucky to share that passion with my students each day.\nI truly believe art is a powerful way to express thoughts\, feelings\, and creativity\, and I love helping students discover new ways to share their unique voices. Teaching and creating are both very close to my heart\, and I can’t wait to welcome you into my classroom soon!
