SUMMARY:Summer Clay Camp! 7/28-30\, 9-11:30am\, ages 6-8
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun and creative three-day Clay Camp. Each day\, campers will complete a unique handbuilding project using a variety of techniques\, then finish their pieces with colorful glazes. In addition to handbuilding\, everyone will have the opportunity to try the pottery wheel and create their own thrown piece. This camp is perfect for young artists who love to explore\, get a little messy\, and make something special with their own hands! Ages 6-8. \nMeet the Teacher: Robin Hippel \nA graduate in Fine Arts in Ceramics from the University of Georgia\, Robin worked in studios in Georgia\, New Jersey\, and South Carolina teaching and creating pots. She has shown work in various galleries and studios including the Soma Gallery in Cape May and the Clay College in Millville\, NJ. She enjoys raw and refined Japanese ceramics\, Italian majolica\, and a variety of international contemporary artists. She curated the Seagrove potter’s “Another Clay Community” ceramics exhibition at the Public Works January to March of 2025. \n“My vision following college was to create one of a kind clay designs and functional art. Designing and and building forms became my favorite part of the process. I found that an evolution occurred which taught me something extraordinary repeatedly. Experimentation established my style and continues to do so. I discovered porcelain clay and followed the work of favored potter Michael Simon over many years. I work primarily on the potters wheel\, altering the form and adding textured slab additions for enhancement and functionality. Taken to the edge with a paddle and a fettling knife\, the form can become more refined while remaining simple and unique. I learned to be a good production potter as well.”
