SUMMARY:Ken Hamilton | "Objects Are Smaller Than They Appear" | November 8th 2024 — January 11th\, 2025
DESCRIPTION:Objects Are Smaller Than They Appear \nOur perception of reality is based on sensory information we have been absorbing all our lives.\nWhen we look at any object\, whatever the scale\, we subconsciously compare it to what we have\nseen in the real world. If we happen to see something we’ve never seen before\, we identify it and\nstore it in our memory for future reference.\nWe rely on those experiences when we look at any form of representational art\, including\nminiatures. Whatever we choose to call them – vignettes\, dioramas or scale environments –\n“miniatures” invite us to look at reality from an entirely different perspective.\nBy combining various shapes\, materials and colors I attempt to build scenes that remind viewers\nof experiences they may have had in their own lives. My goal is to invite viewers to become part\nof the scene where they can ponder every detail\, speculate what is taking place and perhaps\ndevelop their own story lines regarding past\, present and even future events in the miniature\nworlds before them. \nOr they can simply enjoy the details for what they are – perceptions of reality
