SUMMARY:Full Time | Demetrius Bing
DESCRIPTION:East Gallery | November 19th — January 16th | Opening Reception: November 19th from 5:30pm — 8:30pm \nArtist Statement: \nDemetrius Bing | Art of Bing \nFor me\, art is more than just putting paint on a canvas. It’s my freedom\, my therapy\, my voice\, and a way of expressing the things I sometimes can’t put into words. \nMy journey as an artist has been shaped by life\, the challenges I’ve faced\, and the experiences that have made me who I am today. After experiencing a life-changing car accident\, painting became more than something I loved doing. It became a part of my healing. It gave me a place to release my emotions\, find peace in the chaos\, and rediscover myself through creativity. \nMy work is bold\, colorful\, emotional\, and sometimes unpredictable\, just like life itself. I don’t always approach a canvas with a plan. Sometimes I let the colors\, movement\, and emotions guide me. Every brushstroke\, every layer\, and every mark represents a moment\, a feeling\, or a piece of my story. \nOver time\, my work has evolved from darker tones and heavier emotions into brighter colors\, expressive florals\, and abstract compositions that represent growth\, hope\, and new beginnings. My flowers are more than flowers. They are reminders that beauty can grow from difficult places and that even through life’s challenges\, there is still room to bloom. \nI want people to experience my artwork\, not just look at it. I want them to find their own stories within the colors\, textures\, and movement. Whether a piece brings someone joy\, makes them think\, or simply gives them a moment of peace\, that connection is what matters most to me. \nAs I continue growing as an artist\, my mission remains the same: to create without limitations\, inspire others to embrace their own creativity\, and leave behind something meaningful for generations to come. \nI’m not just creating paintings. I’m creating pieces of my journey\, my healing\, and my legacy. \nArtist Bio \nDemetrius Bing | Art of Bing\nContemporary Abstract Artist | Charleston\, South Carolina \nDemetrius Bing\, professionally known as Art of Bing\, is a contemporary abstract artist based in Charleston\, South Carolina. Known for his bold use of color\, expressive brushstrokes\, and emotionally driven compositions\, Bing creates artwork that explores the beauty of human emotion\, resilience\, growth\, and self-discovery. \nFor Bing\, art is more than something to look at. It is a form of healing\, freedom\, and storytelling. His creative journey has been shaped by personal experiences\, including a life-changing car accident that deepened his connection to painting and transformed the way he expresses himself through art. \nHis work has gained recognition throughout the Charleston arts community\, including features in Charleston Magazine and Peninsula Magazine\, as well as the placement of seven original artworks in the Netflix series Outer Banks. His exhibitions include Becoming at Forma Contemporary and his upcoming solo exhibition\, Full Time\, at Public Works Art Center. \nBeyond the canvas\, Bing is passionate about giving back to his community through artist residencies\, educational programs\, and creative experiences that encourage young people to embrace their individuality. \nWith aspirations of sharing his work in galleries and collections around the world\, Bing continues to build a legacy rooted in authenticity\, perseverance\, and the belief that art has the power to connect and inspire people. \n“Keep creating.” — Art of Bing \nInstagram: @artofbing\nWebsite: artofbing.com
